About cookies and signing in

You may sign in with or without using cookies.

If you keep seeing the sign in page and can't get past it, here are some likely explanations:

General Problems:

You haven't activated your subscription.
If you know you have subscription access to Anesthesia & Analgesia CME, but have not explicitly activated your subscription, then activate now.

Cookie Problems:

You are not accepting cookies.
Make sure that your browser's preferences are set to accept cookies.

You are accessing Anesthesia & Analgesia CME via a "proxy server" that is deleting cookies automatically.
You should contact your network administrator to determine whether your institution's proxy server is the source of the trouble.

You are using a program on your computer that automatically deletes cookies.
Two such programs for the Macintosh are "Cookie Cutter" and "WebFree." You will need to create an exception for Anesthesia & Analgesia CME.

The date is set incorrectly on your computer.
This confuses our cookies (they have expiration dates). Check to see that your date is set accurately.

Your browser does not support cookies.
You will need to upgrade it.

What is Auto Sign In?

What happens when I check the "Auto Sign In" box on the sign in page?

If you are using a browser that supports this feature, your Username and Password are encrypted and saved locally to your computer in a file called a "cookie," eliminating the need to type them in each time you visit our site.

When you are entering your Username and Password on the login screen, if you select "Auto Sign In" then anyone who has access to your computer will have access to your subscription to Anesthesia & Analgesia CME. For this reason, we do not recommend "Auto Sign In" on public computers. At any time you may sign out from the "Sign Out" option at the top of most pages.

What is a Cookie?

A cookie is a very small piece of data that a website gives to your web browser. Your browser stores this "cookie" of information on your computer. However, the cookie is associated only with the website from which it came. It can only be read and used by you, your web browser, or the website.

We do not use cookies to track what other sites you have visited, or to look at or track any personal or confidential information about you. We make use of cookies to enable authorization control for online subscriptions.

We delete all of our cookies when you click "Sign Out".

You are not required to accept "cookies" to use this site; however, if you choose not to accept them, click the alternate sign in link on the sign in page. If you do not accept cookies, you cannot use the convenient auto sign in feature, and the only way you can sign out is to quit your browser.

There are four cookies used in our system:
"acceptsCookies" certifies that you are using a browser which accepts cookies.
"username" identifies you to our system as a valid user.
"pswd" tracks your password (encrypted).
"JServSessionId" identifies your session to our computer.

Unless you use the "Auto Sign In" option on the sign in page, the cookie information we create in your browser is destroyed as soon as you quit your browser.

On the other hand, if you use the "Auto Sign In" option once and accept the cookies, on future occasions, the system will only set one cookie, since the other cookies remain resident on your computer until you delete them using "Sign Out."

How do I sign out?

What happens when I click on 'Sign Out' at the top of the page?

If you use a computer that others have access to, we strongly recommend that you sign out when you are done using Anesthesia & Analgesia CME. If you do not, then others can click on Change Password and take over your subscription.

It is quite likely that you do not want this to happen, so we recommend that you sign out once you are finished using Anesthesia & Analgesia CME. For the length of your subscription, you can always sign back in and view subscriber-only content whenever you wish.
